It's the biggest project Jody and I have ever tackled and we are very proud of it. Huge heap of gratitude to our long-time friend Steve Davison for inviting us to be a part of this.
Now everybody go see it!!!
Paper Model for the wacky Aracuan Bird from The Three Caballeros
How spectacular! I just saw the pictures from the parade and I'm SO impressed. They make me giddy :)
ReplyDeleteI also just saw some photos of the parade online. Looks fantastic! Can't wait to see more. I really dig the Snow White Wishing Well on the front of the float. Nice job guys.
ReplyDeleteIf it is half as cool as these models, it is sure to be spectacular
ReplyDeleteI agree with Matt; how can they possibly retain the charm of your paper sculptures? And yet I remain hopeful.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I have an original cel of Mr. Owl!
I just saw a video online and it looks amazing (I'm sure it's even better in person).
ReplyDeleteMy favorite things: Abu in the Aladdin segment, the brand new hermit crab character in the Little Mermaid section, and the incredible Mary Poppins extravaganza.
I was lucky and privileged enough to see this spectacular parade yesterday (Thursday 5/26) and it is truly glorious, colorful, imaginative, unforgettable--and best of all, truly, deep-dyed-in-the-paper-cut-out-models DISNEY. I rarely use the "m" word but this parade is magical. Kevin and Jody, you outdid yourselves--it's fantastic!
ReplyDeletewow - bright colors; texture but smooth lines; lots of motion (in the parade). Thank you Kevin and Jody. Hey - how do I get one of those snazzy t's you were wearing on preview day May 26th?
ReplyDeleteI saw the parade yesterday and the floats are wonderful. There's such a whimsy to them and all the details that you and Jody incorporated - especially all the little and big nods to older Disney movies/shorts. Thank you so much for the Three Caballeros float!
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't happen to be a chimney sweeper on the Mary Poppins's float during the 4:00 PM showing yesterday?
Army and I aren't parade watchers, but we'll check it out next time we're in the park!
ReplyDeleteLovely paper sculptures! Show us MORE!!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing work!
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous paper models. I can't wait to see the parade.
ReplyDeleteI'll be rolling into the park towards the end of June... can't wait to check it out. Congratulations, Kevin & Jody
ReplyDeleteThe parade is getting great reviews. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI had the pleasure of spending the Memorial Day weekend at the Disneyland Resort and caught the new Mickey's Soundsational Parade. I have to say, it was such a treat to see your work all throughout the parade. Not only does it really showcase your style in a very kinetic forum, your art direction really gave new life to a traditional Disney medium. While some of the details are very subtle, you can spot a Kevin and Jody original as soon as the Jolly Holiday character turns the corner leading the Mary Poppons float down Main Street. I may have gasped recognizing your work from a distance yet seeing it on such a grand scale. It leaves no question who provided the art direction.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Premiere. It's a beautiful parade thanks to your contributions.

Oh Guys!
ReplyDeleteTruly.
Have I told you lately how much I love what you do for my little-old-Disneyland-lovin' heart? Babys this is it! The parade I've been waiting for. From Mickey to Poppins and back - yeah, I love a parade!
Magical - whimsical - wonderful - fun and funky. I laughed, I cried, I sang and I danced. And I want TOYS from the Abu push unit and the Mary and Bert units. Spectacular designs - tack-sharp character driven fun!
It's a great blend of classic and hip with layers and layers and layers of detail - greatly enhanced by the concept. I'm a pop-up and paper model fan from way back.
I've seen it 4 times now, watched from the west side and from the east side and expect to see new stuff the next time I pull up a piece of curb to watch it again. I now have a couple hundred shots in my digital Disneyland file and expect to shoot it each time I see it.
As soon as we can find some serious fun time the first round at Trader Sam's is on ME!

Kevin, is a beautiful work, congrats!
ReplyDelete...adorable and fantastic paper pieces, like it SO much!

This is the best parade I've seen at Disneyland. The floats have such incredible details and wonders.
ReplyDeleteWhile trying to get to the Matterhorn last week, I found myself blocked by a parade, though I was very excited when I recognized your Jolly Holiday Hunter towing the float! Really fantastic work. It must be very cool to see your design 20 feet tall.
ReplyDeleteToday, I stumbled upon your collection on Main Street. I poked my head in the window of that little place next to Lincoln for the first time, noticed something familiar on the back wall, and dragged my friend in with me. I love that Disneyland '55 paper sculpture. You and Jody do beautiful work.
