My Knotts & Conway Period

It's rated G!

A tip of the hat to my mom today who just unearthed this little masterpiece from God-knows-where.  I don't remember doing this at all, but I do recall that at age nine, I was enthralled by Don Knotts and Tim Conway.  With that criterion, The Apple Dumpling Gang was cinematic perfection.

Plus I'm sorta proud to admit it kinda looks like them!

  1. LOL... I caught that "rated G" square in the original art. Funny what kids notice. And congrats on getting the drawing to look like Knotts and Conway... at that age, my drawings all looked like Mr. PacMan, but with arms coming out where the ears should be.

  2. From experience, I'd have to say those are fairly accurate Knotts' lips and that is most certainly Conway's crotch!!

Kudos to you, you little Rembrandt!

  4. For an entire summer, when I was roughly that age, my daily routine consisted of the following:

    1) Making me and my little brother grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch

    2) Watching a videotape of The Apple Dumpling Gang

It must be one of those collective unconscious things for Disney kids.

I am slightly chagrined at how they do, in fact, look so much like Knotts & Conway. And I'm not at all surprised by the "G" rating - whenever I drew fake movie posters at this age, I probably spent more time trying to ape all the fine print and technical stuff at the bottom of the poster. My favorite part is how you copied the tag line. I love that.

  5. SO COOL! I loved the apple dumpling gang too!! My Mom also has drawings and art that I have no memory of doing as a kid.

On a side note.. the other day I actually ate an apple dumpling for the first time in 30 plus years. It was delicious!!
