(Europe, Benelux)
'Draconicon' , the 5 headed dragon animatronic is an exceptionally heavy construction, in a metal steampunck styling (to cope with the show's storyline of a olde time dictator & engineer who constructed iron monsters to go to war :-) )
Because of the huge weight, only slow movements seemed to be possible.
Here, picture of he heads-part of the 'puppet', being loaded for transport :-) ::
https://www.eftepedia.nl/lemma/images/9/93/Heavydraak.jpg

VIDEO fragment LINK :
https://video-bru2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t42.3356-2/21047060_150811715501874_5098790166569799679_n.mp4/video-1503417682.mp4?vabr=986436&oh=ebfcb6d4055774e20d5b85c839d0ecef&oe=599DE1D0&dl=1

-----
B.t.w. We were there the very first night that the new dragon breathed fire and we were there last night as this amazing show marked 20 years (complete with a hand painted 20th anniversary banner and Mickey gloves) Please keep making magic and preserving all of these memories for future generations.Pumpkins and Pixie Dusthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00953041429178001843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23059353.post-74991770043845267952012-05-14T17:09:41.529-07:002012-05-14T17:09:41.529-07:00Can you tell us more about how the original dragon...Can you tell us more about how the original dragon head caught on fire? The simple theatrical trickery of it made it seem like that head had a convincingly serpentine neck and the whole character felt very dynamic. I can't help but feel like the latest incarnation feels very stiff and static, even though it's more defined.Eric Scaleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12149591952925380521noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23059353.post-89469432085935925002012-05-14T05:34:11.285-07:002012-05-14T05:34:11.285-07:00Being old enough to remember Fantasmic when it fir...Being old enough to remember Fantasmic when it first opened and having seen it in that first run 20 years ago, your account of the birth of a dragon fills in all the blanks I had wondered about while sitting there with my mouth wide open in amazement.

Kevin, thank you so much for sharing this story and for having the vision 20 years back that finally gave birth to the newly improved Maleficent, still serving up wide-open mouths nightly.

You are such a talent and gift!Blonde Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12483075394832843118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23059353.post-58590748739683823302012-05-13T21:39:12.177-07:002012-05-13T21:39:12.177-07:00Thank You for sharing!
